The Night Life

Last Friday, I went out with the other American teachers. We went to watch a reggae band. They didn't know I was going to bring the funky-fly dance moves. As you can see everyone (including the band) demanded a picture with me.

Kim went out Saturday with Andrea and Mandi. Looks like a boring time to me.

First Day of School

Today was the first day of school, and one of my wishes came true. My little girl went to school with me. She started 1st grade at the same school. Let me tell you, there is nothing more precious than to be at work and hear a familiar little voice yell "Hi Daddy!!!" during lunch.

This year I teach 5th and 6th grade. The students were well prepared and well behaved. I look forward to this school year.

Our School

As you can see, Audrey wasted no time becoming a leader at school. She is pictured here leading the class line while giving pointers to her teacher about effective classroom management.

El Faro Beach

Today we took Beanie to get her school uniform. After, we met the U.S. teachers at El Faro Point (one of the commonly visited beaches of the teachers). We had a great time. The waves would have been considered big to most people; not me. When my brother visits, I'll have to keep him in the shallow end so he doesn't get swept away in the undertow. Of course if that happens, he will fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a mermaid.

Our Mountain Drive

Time has flown by, and we are just starting to feel settled. Puerto Rico has a lot of beautiful areas. We have been here for 10 days and have been fortunate to see several of them. On Wednesday, we drove through the mountains/rain forest coming back from the northern part of the island (It had some awesome scenery, but it was a risky drive).

Our Trip to Ponce

We went to one of the larger towns in Puerto Rico to find a vehicle but were unsuccessful. So, we made the most of our trip. We went to Ye Yo's seafood restaurant with some other teachers. Here, Audrey and I looked for seahells but found urchines instead. Later, we headed to a local beach. Overall, our day was a success.
