Halloween

The family designed a pumpkin for me to carve.

I had to supervise to make sure the pumpkin was scarey. I couldn't have a weenie-looking pumpkin representing our house.

I had to perform my own artistry.
Our final product.

Old San Juan

The kids and I practicing our diva poses.

So I promised Kim that I would go to San Juan with her. I found out later that she wanted to go on OU/Texas gameday (during the game). Everything went well until Ethan hit a passing car with a rock. The people in the car were not too happy until they saw E get a whippin'.

Caja de Muertos

Yesterday, we went to Caja de Muertos (coffin of the dead). It is an island south of Ponce. It was beautiful. However, I believe the island got its name from a family man who spent the entire day here with his wife and kids. He'd rather be in a coffin than have to listen to any more nonsense. We were part of group that numbered 17. There were approximately 40 to 50 people in all that enjoyed the entire island. The sand was as white and the water was blue. We did some snorkeling, hiking, and relaxing. We came back exhausted. Kim came back sun burned while my skin gave off a bronze glow.
Audrey and I are enjoying the boat ride to the island.

Our spot on the beach. This is where we spent most of our day.

This is Mike. He was visiting from Florida.

B-Day Party

I would like to apologize to all those keeping up with our blog. Trying to upload pictures is like standing in line behind a fat person at an all-you-can-eat buffet; it takes forever. This is why I haven't updated in awhile.

Audrey was invited to her 1st Puerto Rican birthday party. It had a Michael Jackson theme (Michael Jackson is idolized here). Everyone was required to wear black and white. As you can see, I have what it takes to get into the party.

Audrey poses with her friend (the birthday girl).

Elmo made an appearance at the birhtday party. I thought Elmo was E's favorite character, but E let me know otherwise.

Mini Trip

Our family and the rest of the Americans took a mini trip to the east part of the island (close to Fajardo). We went to the rainforest and then to the beach. It was a fun day.

We stopped by a roadside fruit stand.

I bought plantains thinking they were bananas.

Kim and Audro enjoying a pina colada (non alcoholic).

This is a waterfall in the rainforest that led to a swimming hole. It started raining when we arrived, but a few of us were undeterred and we went swimming.

Audrey and I climbed these rocks. Here we are being prepped by Jon on how to slide down the rocks into the swimming hole. It was a success.

Audrey is prepared to partake in her first snorkeling adventure.

Kids enjoy the day building sandcastles.

Our Adventure

Today, we had to drive to Ponce to pick up some school clothes for Beanie. We decided to take the drive that was off the beaten path. Along the way, we saw some cool scenery and stopped at a local flea market. The way back provided us the opportunity to meet some cool people.

These are some pictures we took on our way to Ponce.
Beanie missed the sights on the way to Ponce.

There is a fruit grown in Puerto Rico called the quenepa. It is delicious. There are a lot of people throughtout the country that stand on the side of the road selling them. Kim absolutely loves them. However, instead of learning Spanish and calling them the correct name, she has given them her own word - YumYums. She now has the kids saying this word too. Pictured here is Kim leaving me for the quenepa man.

On our way back to Guayama, we decided to stop by a golf course to scout out the place my dad and brother will receive future thrashings. The first person I met at this course/resort was Chi Chi Rodriguez. We talked for a little bit, and come to find out, he was once stationed at Fort Sill in good ol' L-Town. Once Kim and I told him we were from there, an instant bond was made.
